The action: Look away from the screen and focus your gaze out the window or at the farthest end of the room. Pick a spot that is at least 6 meters (20 feet) away.
Step 2: Soft Focus - Releasing Focus
The action: Don't fixate on this point rigidly, but let your gaze „soften.“ Try for 20 seconds to consciously perceive what is at the outer edge of your field of vision (peripheral vision) without moving your eyes there.
Step 3: The Conscious Blink – Activating the Tear Film
The action: Now, consciously and relaxed, blink for 20 seconds in time with your calm breathing. This reactivates the eye muscles and moisturizes the cornea, which dries out from staring at the monitor.
The implementation rules: Ideally, do the exercise together as a team. No one needs to speak – the shared, silent gaze into the distance creates a calming, focused dynamic. The typical stress-rumination cycle is immediately interrupted, cellular blue light stress is reduced, and the team leaves with a noticeably fresher mental focus.
